This style guide helps ensure we communicate a consistent look and image and properly follow corporate graphic guidelines. Please use this guide in all your UAW-GM and Make-A-Wish programs or for any type of printed materials or publicity.

Logos
There are three primary logos associated with UAW-GM’s sponsorship of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

1. Logo for Generic Purposes
Use this logo as the standard in all materials when a specific GM dealership is not directly involved. This example shows the logo in black and white; color guidelines are found further down.

2. Logo for Use with GM Dealers
Use this logo anytime you’re publishing materials for an event or promotion associated with local GM dealerships. This example shows the logo in black and white; color guidelines are found further down.

3. Logo for Use with Promotional and Advertising Materials
Use this logo any time you’re preparing ads, banners, posters, flyers or other promotional materials. To preserve the logo’s integrity, the type portion (UAW, GM and Make-A-Wish logos) may not be moved to the top or sides of the smile graphic or to any other location on the piece.

Logo Usage

Colors
On all 4-color communications materials, the logo should be reproduced in the two spot colors shown at right (PMS 123 yellow and PMS 293 blue). If necessary, a match 4-color process version can be used, or the logo can be reproduced in one color. Acceptable colors for the one-color version are: PMS 293 blue, black or reversed out to white on a dark background.

For a consistent logo treatment, please use the correct logo color (PMS 185 red) for the “smile” graphic and for the word “Smiles” in the logo.

Area of Isolation
It is important to keep the logo area clear of any distracting elements. Please allow at least 1/4" of clear space around the logo, as shown at right.

Color Palette
The color palette below was chosen to communicate a message that is warm, powerful, positive and uplifting. The GM blue (PMS 293) and UAW yellow (PMS 123) have also been incorporated into this palette.

To keep the image consistent, it is important to always use the designated spot colors. However, where budget is a consideration, process colors may be substituted.

The colors shown are for use on coated papers. If you wish to use uncoated paper, please visually match color to a coated color chip.

Typography
To communicate a consistent look and image, the three typefaces below should be used in all communications materials.

Stone Serif
Stone Serif is an elegant font that communicates a message that is accessible and friendly. It is recommended for use in headlines and body copy.

Stone Sans
The sans serif version of the above typeface, Stone Sans, is ideal for captions and subheads, as well as for short introductory paragraphs.

Futura
Futura, a modern, sans serif typeface that is part of the Make-A-Wish graphic standards, may also be used for captions and short introductory paragraphs.

If you do not own copies of these fonts you can purchase Macintosh or Windows compatible versions by ordering them from the Adobe Type Library at http://www.adobe.com/type.

Photo Usage
To help personalize your communications, all photography should be of actual Make-A-Wish children or Make-A-Wish events associated with UAW-GM (i.e. no stock photography is permitted). All photos containing Make-A-Wish children must also be authorized by the Make-A-Wish Foundation for usage prior to publication. Photos must be captioned with only the wish child’s first name.

Photos should be printed in 4-color for use in multi-colored publications, or black-and-white with black ink only treatments (i.e. for newspaper ads).
