Created by USA Weekend, Make A Difference Day is a national day of helping others. On this day, everyone is encouraged to volunteer time, resources or both to support a local cause. Last year, millions of people cared enough about their communities to volunteer on that day, spearheading thousands of projects in hundreds of towns. As part of this annual event and in support of UAW-GM and GM's national sponsorship of the Make-A-Wish Foundation^®, UAW-GM/GM's national Make A Difference Day outreach in 2003, 2004 and 2005 raised more than $3.5 million and granted 548 wishes. Our campaign also earned a prize of $10,000 from actor and philanthropist Paul Newman for our exceptional contribution.
