Wish: Go on a Disney Cruise
Chapter:
Make-A-Wish Foundation®
of North Texas
Disney is a part of Peyton’s everyday therapy: Animated characters, music, lights and colors are just a few of the things that make Peyton smile. So when it came to picking a wish, Peyton and his family knew that a Disney Cruise filled with lovable characters and Disney magic was the perfect wish-come-true. Before he left for his dream trip, Peyton was given a bon voyage party with colorful balloons and delicious cake. He also received many goodies to make his trip complete, including cruise clothes, disposable cameras, snacks, sunscreen, sunglasses, backpacks, a Disney watch and more!
The next day, Peyton and his family traveled to Florida to start their ocean adventure. Their seven-night Disney Cruise included two days at sea, as well as stops at these exotic destinations: Key West, Cozumel, Grand Cayman and Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay. While activities on the Disney Magic® ship cruise were the center of Peyton’s wish, he also enjoyed other excursions, including a Schooner Sunset Sail and an Ocean View Explorer Tour. From the amazing outdoor sights to the on-board Walt Disney Theater, Peyton enjoyed his trip of a lifetime.
Peyton’s wish was granted in conjunction with the Fort Worth Race for Wishes, a 5K race that attracted 500 runners. This fun event raised enough funds to grant 12 wishes.

Wish: Visit a spa in New York City Resort
Chapter:
Make-A-Wish Foundation®
of Greater Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana
New York City, here comes Deondra! This young lady spent a dream day at the upscale Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa where she received the special guest treatment. As the picture shows, she had an amazing day of pampering and was treated like a princess. In addition to her day at the spa, Deondra, her family and her best friend did all the fun tourist things, such as visiting the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. With tickets to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, she and her group had an extra-special Big Apple experience.
Deondra’s wish was granted in conjunction with the Z99.5 and Applebee’s Make-A-Wish Request-A-Thon, an event providing listeners the opportunity to request any song in exchange for a small donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Volunteers from UAW Region 3 and Metal Fabricating Division Indianapolis/Local 23 answered phones for six hours. Due to their efforts and many other volunteers, enough funds were raised to grant an amazing 60 wishes.

Wish: Visit the Weather Channel® Resort
Chapter:
Make-A-Wish Foundation®
of Southern Florida
Tyler (center) with Weather Channel tropical weather expert Dr. Steve Lyons (left) and storm tracker Jim Cantore.
|
Tyler is a budding weatherman! He wanted to visit the Weather Channel and meet Jim Cantore, on-camera meteorologist and famous storm tracker. Tyler’s wish came true. He visited Atlanta, Georgia, toured the facility and met his favorite weather people. He spent a lot of time learning and in some cases teaching about weather patterns. Everyone at the Weather Channel was amazed by his knowledge. Tyler named every storm in 2006, and made a few predictions for 2007. Better yet, he got to “be” a meteorologist. While he did not get to appear on-camera, he still was permitted to step in front of the screen and act as a real weatherman in front of the map. Everyone who met Tyler had their own prediction: If the Weather Channel were hiring 11-year-olds, Tyler would be at the top of their list!
Tyler’s wish was granted in conjunction with the Earl Morrall/Perfect Season Celebrity Golf Tournament.

Wish: Go to Walt Disney World ® Resort
Chapter:
Make-A-Wish Foundation®
of
Greater Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana
Lynzee's magical wish started with a limousine that picked up her and her family and took them to the airport to begin their journey to Walt Disney World Resort. They stayed at Give Kids The World Village, where Lynzee was treated like a Disney princess: She could have ice cream anytime she wanted, go swimming, and enjoy the nature trail. The trip was the vacation of a lifetime; the family visited Disney's Magic Kingdom, Disney-MGM Studios, Disney's Animal Kingdom, Epcot ®, SeaWorld, and Universal Studios.
Madelyn loves the Disney princesses, too. She wanted to go to Walt Disney World to meet and see her favorite characters and vacation with her family. Like Lynzee, Madelyn and her family stayed at Give Kids The World Village, where they enjoyed everything that special place has to offer. With her siblings, Madelyn visited the nearby theme parks and enjoyed her exciting wish trip.
The highlight of both girls' experience was seeing all of her favorite princesses in the Disney Parade.
The wishes of Lynzee and Madelyn were granted in conjunction with the WZPL Make-A-Wish Request-A-Thon event.
